October was a busy month, thanks to my favorite holiday of the year, so let’s dive right in!
Crafting / Projects
Much of the crafting I did this month was for Yule presents, so I can’t show those off, but here’s what I can share. I started working on another satin stitch kit of Lake Louise. I also assembled a giant Halloween arch for the front walkway, and I’m looking forward to using it year after year to entice the trick-or-treaters to come up our long, long driveway for their full size candy bars!

Pumpkin Carving
Kim and I went to Powers to see the teepees and get our pumpkins. Then, while we were carving them, we had a pigeon come land on my chair and act like he was the family pet! He came around a few more days for more bird seed, but after that week, Peter the Pumpkin Eating Pigeon stopped coming around the house. I hope you’re okay wherever you are, little one!

New Tattoo
Also this month, I got started on a new tattoo of a jumping fox. Dawn from Vigilante Tattoo knocked out the line work and shadows in the first sitting and we’ll add color next month! Eventually, all four of my limbs will represent the elements. The fox is for earth.

Carilloning
I was fortunate enough to get my own access to the tower to go practice on the carillon without my teacher being present. Check out this video of me playing all the songs I know so far (minus a Christmas one, since it’s too egregious to play it for the public before Thanksgiving.) Check out Pink Pony Club at the very end! Oh, and I got to play the Depeche Mode song that I know a few times on Halloween as part of the spooky entertainment for the university’s Scare Fair! See even further below for that performance, where I was decked out in my “work-appropriate” Halloween attire.
Vampire Circus
Mom and I went to the Smith Opera House in Geneva to see the Vampire Circus perform. It was a spooky mix of aerial acts and dark-humored clowns. I wasn’t sure what I was getting into when I said yes, but I’m glad we went!! There were some new things I’d never seen before, like ariel silks with chains and nets, and two people on a single cyr wheel.

Halloween
Halloween is my favorite holiday, where you can be whatever you want, without judgement. I decided to break out the Maleficent costume after not wearing it for a few years. I may have forgotten some of the makeup details, and I couldn’t find my false lashes, but I think it still turned out well. Had about 22 trick-or-treaters before we closed up a little early to head out with Kim to a great party at Allie’s beautifully decorated home. That 12ft skeleton in the stairwell was so impressive! See below for a short clip of me showing off the porch decor (sadly not as much as I wanted due to the high winds and rain) and then more photos below.

Everything Else
Also this month I helped a friend run a Megagame at RIT, an all-day endeavor that leaves me exhausted by the end, but the students seem to have a lot of fun, so that’s what makes it worth it. There was also a Halloween themed drag comedy show at the Carlson, and attending La Cage aux Folles at Roar, both of which I saw with friends and my mom. Plus plenty of adulting, continued carillon lessons, and everyday life that’s too boring for a blog. It was a busy month! Hopefully things will slow down for a little bit before they get busy again for the holidays. Until next time, stay warm everyone!
